There are two routes into construction waste removal in Latvia. The straightforward one is skip hire: drop off an empty skip, come back a few days later and take away a full one. That is a logistics job — vehicles, skips, a schedule. The second route is harder work: turn up with a crew, climb to the fifth floor, bag up two tonnes of mortar and carry it down one load at a time.
We chose the second, because that is where people are most often left without an answer. There are plenty of skip firms and they do their job well. But a skip does not help someone who has just finished refitting a bathroom on the third floor — they still have to carry twenty bags down themselves. And that is precisely the part they cannot or would rather not do.
So our service starts where the skip firms' work ends: inside the property. We gather the waste up, carry it out, load it and take it away. We do not leave a skip behind, because a skip takes up space in the yard, needs a parking permit sorted out and has a habit of filling up with the neighbours' rubbish.
In twelve years we have worked on more than 600 properties — from a few bags after a new kitchen went in to a full strip-out of a three-bedroom flat. Most of them are ordinary Riga flats up a stairwell with no lift.
We agree the price before the crew sets off. If we find something on site that is substantially different from the photos, we say so there and then and agree it again with you — rather than adding it to the bill at the end.
If you have a trailer and five bags on the ground floor, taking them yourself will be cheaper. If waste is going to build up over a month on a large site, a skip will work out better. We say so plainly — a bad deal for the customer is not a good deal for us either.
We hand the waste over at a licensed waste reception site that is authorised to accept it. Nothing ends up at the edge of a wood or in someone else’s skip — that would be a risk for you as much as for us.
We do not take asbestos or hazardous waste, we do not take down load-bearing structures without a design, and we do not demolish buildings with heavy plant. If your job falls outside what we do, we will tell you straight away.
